Vintage Halloween Economy Blocks from Carried Away Quilting

I have a weakness for vintage inspired children’s fabrics. They remind me of my favorite children’s books . . . tender stories of sweet boys and girls finding adventures in their everyday lives, learning lessons of kindness, honesty, resilience and even bravery. Every illustration was a small work of art, inviting me to another place and time. It’s no wonder that I couldn’t resist this darling Halloween themed fabric with a vintage vibe.

The focal fabric you see at the center of my blocks is from a Halloween collection by Belle and Boo, which is a company based in ...

Pumpkin Sky pillow: A welcoming touch for my front porch from Carried Away Quilting

The first week of September has ushered in bright, crisp days for those of us in Minnesota. I plan to spend part of my Labor Day weekend doing some fall decorating. As a jump start, I added a few autumn elements to my front porch, including my newest Pumpkin Sky pillow.

I hope you don’t remember that I was working on this white, butterscotch and denim version of my Pumpkin Sky pillow in September of last year! I finally got my ducks in a row and sent it off to be quilted by my friend Barb at Quilts on ...

A sunny Flower Tile quilt block from Carried Away Quilting

Last night I was feeling blue. I was missing my quilting buddies and reminiscing about the fun we have when we sew together . . . giggling, talking, snacking, creating. I’m so glad I did, because by the end of the evening I had cheered myself considerably by making this happy block!

Do you remember my Flower Tile pattern? I released it in 2018 and it has always been a personal favorite of mine ...

Christmas bed runner welcomes overnight guests from Carried Away Quilting

My Christmas bed runner is finished! I did a “decorating test-run” to see how it will look in our guest room with a few other holiday items, and I think the end result is warm and inviting. Now I’m torn, though. Do I put the Christmas décor away until after Thanksgiving, or leave it out and watch my husband shake his head and roll his eyes?

As I mentioned in my post a few weeks ago, a bed runner is a great solution if you don’t have time to make a full quilt, but you want to dress ...

Christmas bed runner with Star Crossed Pines from Carried Away Quilting

Just the other day I was walking by our guest room and thought, “I wish I had a Christmas quilt to lay across the foot of the guest bed this winter.” You may be surprised to hear that I don’t have enough Christmas quilts for every bed and sofa in the house, but I don’t! Since Christmas is less than two months away (eeek!), I decided to make a bed runner instead. Here’s my first block.

Do you recognize the block? It’s from my Star Crossed Pines quilt pattern!  Doesn’t it have a cozy, homespun ...
